Ban on export of onion, Bombay HC seeks Centre's reply:

At the hearing of a written petition lodged by a registered association of onion exporters, the
Bombay High Court noted that it would be in the interest of justice to extend the export profit to
those onion producers / exporters keeping legitimate shipping bills issued prior to the notification
of 14 September issued by the Directorate of Foreign Trade prohibiting onion exports.
Justice Ujjal Bhuyan's division bench and Justice Abhay Ahuja heard the written petition lodged
by the Horticulture Produce Exporters Association and Rohan Shah, owner of Fair Agro
Enterprises and member of the first petitioner organisation, challenging the notification as it
prohibited members of the petitioner association from exporting onions even though they held a
legitimate shipping organisation.
