CBSE to cancel Compartment Examination: Plea Hearing in SC.
4th September 2020
A writ petition has been filed against the CBSE board on its decision to conduct compartment examination for students of classes X and XII. The plea is filed on behalf of 2, 10,000 students, notably 1, 50,198 students of class X and 87,651 students of class XII, placed in the compartment category. Being represented by Advocate Shakti Pandey, the petition urges the court to issue directions to CBSE for ensuring that neither the students are forced to appear for the examination nor forced to waste a whole year due to compartment in a single examination. The primary contention raised was that, it shall be impossible for the CBSE board to safely conduct compartment exams amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The petition will be heard by a three- Judge Bench of the Supreme Court, comprising Justices AM Khanwilkar, Dinesh Maheshwari and Sanjiv Khanna, tomorrow.
