CIC denies appellant to show presence while hearing due to failure to provide information: Aarogya Setu RTI row

RTI Activist & Journalist Saurav Das registered a complaint on Aarogya Setu. The App officer does not allow him to show his presence while hearing. On 27 October, CIC had stated a blistering comment on the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MEITY) & National Information Center, as they failed to respond to the setup of the Aarogya Setu App. Under section 20, action can take out against both of the departments.
Vanaja N Sarna’s CIC officer informed Das that presence is not essential as this is a rationalised hearing, this will be between the commissioner and the CPIOS. Das furiously disagreed with this and stated that it is contrary to natural justice. He also complained that he was not allowed to submit other copies & affidavits.
Appellant crack the comments on Modi Government resulting to press release, which provided the app information in the public domain.
The case will further be heard on 24th November.
