Extension of interim bail granted to prisoners who are in light of covid-19: Delhi HC

Delhi High court through the special bench of Chief Justice DN Patel, Justice Siddharth Mridual, and Justice Talwant Singh has issued a notice in application seeking modification in court order extending the interim bail granted to certain prisoners in light of Covid -19 pandemic extended to another 45 days. They directed the Delhi Government to submit an affidavit stating the total number of prisoners who are covid positive and also to inform how many prisoners have to be released for interim bail and how many are to be surrendered for next month. Mr. Prasad further informed that the prisoners who had gone for interim bail for one week have not returned by claiming the relief whereas the two jails in Mondoli have been notified as isolation wards. Mr. Prasad also submitted to the court that there are 248 isolation wards. The court said to submit the information in the next hearing.
