General Consent granted to CBI was withdrawn by Jharkhand Government
6th November, 2020
The Jharkhand Government on Thursday has issued an order withdrawn the general Consent granted to CBI [Delhi special police to establishment] to investigate cases in the state which is the 8th state in India to have withdrawn GC.
And it is noted that section 6 of DSPE Act provides that a member of the Delhi special police establishment cannot exercise powers and jurisdiction under the Act in any area in a state without the consent of the government of that state.
In 1996 the state of Jharkhand had issued a notification giving permission for CBI to probe any case in state. In last month the government of Maharashtra has withdrawn the GC and the Kerala state government had recently objected the CBI investigation against the Chief executive officer of LIFE Mission.
