Gujarat High Court upon mask violation.
5th December, 2020
On Friday, Gujarat High Court said that imposition on not wearing a mask is not acting as a sufficient deterrent amongst the public and the state government may consider making violators work at COVID-19 centres.
On 1st December Friday court discussed with the state government that the fine for not wearing a face mask be increased by 2000 for urban cities end 1000 for the rest of Gujarat, further said that someone caught without wearing a mask their service will be utilized for community service at COVID-19 Centres for 10 to 15 days on non-medical service.
The court stated that this suggestion to be working well as a deterrent, however, they prayed for a reasonable time to revert to obtaining instructions from the state. We also feel that such steps if taken would defuse greater implementation of the compulsory wearing of the mask which will help us in containing the spread of COVID-19.
