Himachal Pradesh HC on colleges blackmailing students by retaining original certificates

The Himachal Pradesh High Court on 6th October with a bench of Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan and Justice Jyotsna Rewal Dua dealing with the colleges blackmailing the students by retaining their original certificates and other documents and where the petitioner in the case filed the instant petition for the grant of following substantive relief:
1. The respondent NO.2 to 5 may be directed to return the original documents of the petitioners immediately without any further delay.
2. Respondents No.2 to 5 or any of these respondents in whose illegal custody the original documents of petitioners are there may kindly be directed to pay each of the petitioners a sum of rupees five lacs as compensation. The respondents may further be directed to produce the records and to pay costs.
The judges noted the petitioners' points and the students were undergoing a lot of mental trauma and indulged in a legal battle to set their upset careers. At the situation while the petitioners asked for the certificates the college members retained to give the certificates they have said that they were under the control of CBI and the court observed that it effected the health of student and there career and so they have return there certificates and should pay to each petitioner up to 50,000/- for litigation expense.
