Human behaviour like feeding and garbage littering lead to monkey menace: Punjab and Haryana HC

The Punjab and Haryana High Court consisting of the bench of Justice Arun Monga who was hearing the plea of one Divyam Dhakla who had approached the court to get rid of the nuisance and harm caused by monkeys and to take steps to protect the Shivalik Enclave, Mani Majra, chandigarh. The court later observed that killing of monkeys and culling monkeys like vermin (in case of self-defense), on the fact of it, is outrageous, cruel and preposterous, and court further remarked:
1. Garbage littering by residents is another contributor. - Due to availability of more food the monkeys are surrounded around.
2. On getting any telephone complaint, prompt action is ensured within 30 minutes thereof, by arriving on the scene occurrence.
3. The respondent no.2 shall file a supplementary specific action taken report, within a period of 6 month.
