Kerala HC said that strict actions are to be taken on investigating officers/Media if confessions are leaked during investigation.

The Kerala HC on Thursday with the bench of Justice PV Kunhikrishnan observed that the investigating officers are leaking the confession statement of the accused and media is giving wide publicity for such statements in such sensational cases and said that “stringent actions will be taken by this court under the general divulging the materials collected during pendency of any investigation, to the public/media. And said that any investigating officer cannot divulge any materials collected during investigation and requested for media reporters and printers and anchors to read section 24 of the Evidence Act before giving the headlines in the news channels and newspapers. The court recalled the case “Murukeshan v. State of Kerala”.
