NCDRC directed Big Bazaar: Charging additional costs for carry bags at payment counter without prior notice is an unfair trade practice.

Big Bazar has been directed by the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) to discontinue its practice of charging additional cost of carry bags at the time of payment.

The NCDRC dismissed the review petition in this case, where the company is charging Rs 18 for carry bags, it directed further that this information must be provided to the consumers prior he makes his choice about the retail and not at the time of payment, as, it causes inconvenience and embarrassment to the customer and also an additional charge of the carry bags.
